Just the Tip of the Iceberg.

All Photography by Natalya Jean

One of the things I can say about my trip to BosMun is that I definitely took enough photos. Due to some technical difficulties, I wasn't able to get these up earlier. Sorry about that. However, I've just finished combing through almost three hundred- meaning you can count on me showcasing some of them on my blog for the next few days. So brace yourselves for an onslaught of photos.

And In My Suitcase...

All Photography by Natalya Jean
Last year, I got involved with Model UN which culminates in two big conferences throughout the year; Boston and New York. Tomorrow, I, along with my friends, leave for Boston to represent Haiti in one of these conferences. It's an incredible experience, despite the long hours, and I'm extremely excited to be able to do it again- especially now that I know what to do this year. I'm definitely looking forward to heading up there tomorrow and exploring Boston with my friends. In all honesty, I can't wait!

My packing experience involves waiting until the very last minute, putting some basics in my suitcase, before panicking and shoving twenty more things in. However, I decided to be organized this time and packed very carefully (not to mention lightly)- so, I thought I'd give you some physical proof.

In My Suitcase
  • Two blazers, two pairs of dress pants, three fancy tops.
  • Black jeans and a blouse.
  • Two dresses, two pairs of tights, accessories.
  • Basics- socks, undergarments, etc.
  • Black-and-White Oxfords, boots.

Sometimes, one piece of clothing makes an outfit. A fancy bag, a cute accessory, a dapper (yes, dapper) jacket. However, in this case, I feel as though several items that are simplistic in nature come together to create this flashy overall effect. Red trousers, oversized cream sweater, blazer, tall boots. On their own- quite basic. But together- rather fancy, hmm?

I spend most of my Fridays with a friend, usually Sam, and by now, we have a routine whether we're at her place or mine; we walk into town, grab some drinks, browse for a while, food, and then relax at home. After a long week, it's the perfect way to release pent-up stress, end the week, and simply to spend the day! These fun Friday afternoons are generally permeated through by photography (see above), which now ends up on both of our blogs. Enjoy!

DIY: Just A Tab.

All photography by Natalya Jean.

One chilly night in October, Sam and I were hanging out at a local pizza place and people-watching over our pizza, when we spotted a girl with a Coca Cola cap necklace. It was extremely cute and whimsical, which lead us to create our own version of her necklace. Hence, the Tab Necklace. I've gotten several compliments every time I wear it and I thought I'd share this simple design with you.
Steps:
  1. Find a chain, preferably not a chunky one as the tabs have to be able to slide onto the necklace. You decide as to the length, depending on how many tabs you want to include on your necklace and where you want it to hang on your body.
  2. Collect tabs. You can stick to the classic silver ones or deviate into the colorful, designed tabs to create your own unique necklace. One of the qualities I love about this necklace is definitely its one-of-a-kind feel. Sam and I spent a couple of weeks finding all of the tabs we wanted for a necklace, so don't worry if it's an ongoing project.
  3. Slide the tabs onto the chain using the holes. Continue stringing until you like the way your necklace looks. Close chain and tah-dah! You have your very own Tab Necklace!

Hats, hats, hats.

Blue Fedora: T.J. Maxx
Blue & White Striped Cap: France (stolen from my brother soon after purchase)
Grey & Black Plaid Cap: T.J. Maxx
Purple Beret: Vintage
Black Beanie: Target

To be honest, I'm not a huge hat person. In fact, I generally don't wear them as it involves a lot of digging through my closet to find them and I happen to be lazy at six in the morning when I'm getting dressed. But one of my New Year's Resolutions was to wear more hats, so I'm making more of an effort. I'm going to try to wear a hat at least once a week- and you can hold me to that. Meanwhile, enjoy my selection of hats.

I'm not a big fan of Valentine's Day for the conventional reasons; hearts, boyfriends, and girlfriends. However, I don't have a problem with expressing love for your friends and for yourself. I have a pretty amazing group of friends, each and every one I'm eternally grateful for, and telling them that through Dove chocolates goes over extremely well. Dressing up in an artsy outfit, scarfing chocolates throughout the day, and stalking watching others immersed in the holiday is enough for me to accept it.

Also, Photo #2 and Photo #5 were taken by my talented best friend, Samantha Manzella. Check her out here: http://www.nerdysam.com/
